Is a Supply Chain Master’s the new MBA? Inside MIT’s SCM program

We often talk about the media work we do, but Greenough also has a full suite of brand marketing services. Through these capabilities, we’ve been working closely with MIT’s Center of Transportation & Logistics to increase applications for its Supply Chain Master’s program.
When we first onboarded, the team told us they wanted more collaboration on the program – no problem there! We dug in quickly to understand their competitive messaging, what makes them different from other programs and how can we weave that into a story that drives their digital campaigns. This storytelling approach (which you may have heard us talk about before 😉) helped us drive a 38% increase in the number of U.S.-based applicants, while driving their cost per application down by 20%.
In year two, we doubled down on our message, reinforcing the value that a Master’s in Supply Chain can offer in advancing your career, pivoting to a new role or embracing new challenges (because we hear supply chain is a pretty big issue in 2025…). After applications closed this spring, we were thrilled to again see an increase in applicants by over 10% -- but perhaps more impactful is this increase in the face of numerous challenges that target both higher ed and supply chain industries.
As we look ahead, our story continues to evolve, working in lockstep with the MIT team to embrace the opportunities ahead in supply chain as this field takes center stage. And if you’re interested in getting your Master’s of Supply Chain in 10 months or less, you know where to find us!
“The Greenough Communications team quickly became an extension of our own, immersing themselves in the nuances of our supply chain master’s curriculum, understanding what resonates with prospective graduate students, and identifying strategies to increase admissions. They bring a smart mix of paid and owned activations, push us to think differently, and consistently come to the table with fresh, creative ideas. Year after year, they’ve helped us meet and exceed our goals.”
- Dr. Maria Jesus Saenz, Executive Director of the MIT Supply Chain Management Master’s program
